The aqua that van der Loo used on the walls is punctuated with silver-leafed moldings and grounded with an espresso-stained floor. The bookcases originally had doors, which the designer removed. The backs of the bookcase were painted a deep charcoal color, and glass replaced the wooden shelves. The headboard and bench at the foot of the bed were designed by van der Loo and executed by Desiron. A hand-woven vegetable-dyed Persian rug from Oriental Rugs and Masterpieces, Morristown, lends warmth and light. The silver-and-crystal Italian chandelier adds a frilly accent to the clean-lined room. The bench is upholstered in a textured cotton from Gretchen Bellinger. Throws on the bed and bench are from Anichini.
