1967- Katja is born in The Hague, Netherlands,
the happy result of a wild night out between
Spanish mom and Dutch dad
1970- At age 3, trashes crib during first decorating
attempt.
1985- In high school, turns down lvy League schools
to start illustrious career in interior design at
Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC. Parents
immediately schedule for lobotomy.
1993- Spends copious time in the Netherlands and
throughout Europe broadening design horizons; quickly realizes
limited design potential of windmills. Proposes redesign of the
Louvre; still awaiting response from I.M.Pei.
1996- After working at Alice's Antiques and Portico in New York City's
trendy Soho, Katja experiences a creative epiphany and opens
Papyrus Home Design in Morristown, New Jersey.
2001- Celebrates 5 years shop anniversary and continues to bedazzle
and delight clients. Katja has participated in "Mansions in May", a
decorating show house run by the Women's Association of
Morristown Memorial Hospital.
2003- Closes retail location in Morristown and is turning her own home
into a mini show house. Her work is published in several trade
magazines and her client list is rapidly growing.
2009-After 13 years in business and thanks to her inspired clients, a
new website is born. Katja strongly encourages more clients
to purchase second homes in exotic locations where she will gladly
lend her services.
