Wayne Wonderful

The homeowner strolled into my store one day and we started talking about design. We realized that our styles clicked. It was the start of a great collaboration.

The Goal

The homeowner, both a crafter and a cook, desired a kitchen that effortlessly flowed into a large, airy craft room. Papyrus Home Design worked with the homeowner to create her dream kitchen and to ensure the craft room, which was previously a dining room,  could easily be converted back into a dining room or into a library, if needed.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT

Years earlier the homeowner and Papyrus Home Design worked together on the living room. Because of the success of this project, the homeowner hired PHD again 14 years later. for the kitchen and craft room renovation. PHD partnered with their long-time cabinetmaker and acted as the GC, minimizing costs and maximizing efficiencies.

SPACE PLANNING

The opening between the kitchen and craft room was moved and enlarged to add symmetry and light to the space.

The original kitchen, while large, did not make good use of the available space. By reconfiguring the floor plan and adding a 7' x 7' center island, we created a beautiful space for both everyday living and entertaining.

DESIGN DETAILS

A California girl at heart, the homeowner desired a fresh friendly feel with a blue and white color palette.
